Meet Veeru, a 11-month-old Golden Retriever boy with a heart of gold.

Veeru was surrendered by his family for no fault of his own. His original family realised they could not make the 15-year commitment that comes with bringing a dog home.

He is a sweet, gentle and happy baby. He loves people and other dogs. He does not have any aggression, resource guarding or behavioural issues. He is in his teenage phase and is playful, energetic and curious about the word around him. He would thus require a family who will help him positively navigate through this. He is toilet trained and understands commands. Stuffed toys are Veeru’s entire world. Give him a room full of soft toys, and you have given him everything he needs to be happy.

He is vaccinated and dewormed.

Veeru requires a home that:

• • has experience with working breeds, especially Golden Retrievers and understands that he is a high-energy, intelligent dog who will thrive with structure, consistency, and proper guidance
  • has the time, patience and commitment to raise a young adult dog
  • has access to good groomers, private veterinary care and trainers or behaviourists
  • will continue his training with positive reinforcement and consistency
  • will not leave him alone for long hours and can provide companionship
  • provide him with a non-vegetarian diet
  • are prepared for the energy, training, and commitment required to raise a teen golden retriever into a well-adjusted adult dog
  • will treat him as a valued family member for the rest of his life

Veeru doesn’t need someone to rescue him from bad behaviour. He just needs someone who will make him one final promise that he is home and this time, it is forever.
