Meet Shinzo, the boy who was left behind.

Shinzo is a three-year-old Lhasa Apso boy who was found abandoned on the road. At the time of his rescue, he was in a very bad condition. His body was covered in ticks and his fur was so badly matted that we had to shave him down. He also had tick fever and an eye infection.

Today, Shinzo is clean, treated and on the road to full recovery. He is healing beautifully and feeling so much better. He is vaccinated, dewormed and neutered.

Despite everything he’s been through, Shinzo’s trust in humans never wavered. He is incredibly human oriented and has the sweetest, softest personality. He wants to be near you, talk to you, play with you and simply be included in your life. He is toilet trained. He is good with other dogs and loves to play with them. Shinzo knows his commands. He sits, waits patiently for his food, and walks beautifully on a leash. He loves car rides; open the car door and he looks at you, then jumps right in.

Shinzo is scared of brooms. When he sees one, he cowers and slinks away. We believe someone may have hurt him with one. But despite that, he still trusts humans completely.

Shinzo needs a home that:

• • has experience with Lhasa Apso’s or Shitzu’s and understands the breed’s temperament and needs
  • is willing to give Shinzo time and space to settle in at his own pace and not force immediate affection from him and is a home that understands his fear of brooms and will help him work through it
  • will commit to training and can provide a structured lifestyle
  • has access to good groomers, private veterinary care and trainers or behaviourists
  • can provide a non-vegetarian diet
  • is warm, loving and patient and will include him in daily life and give him the attention and companionship he loves
  • will never abandon him again and will be his family for life and will love him for the sweet, gentle boy he is.

Shinzo doesn’t need a perfect home. He just needs the right one. He may be a small dog but he has a big heart with an even bigger capacity to love.
