Meet Ivy, a gorgeous 11-month-old, female German Shepherd.

She is gentle in a way that feels regal. She moves like she knows she is royalty, but carries it without arrogance. Other dogs gravitate to her. People do too. She is calm, composed, and sociable. She plays beautifully with the other dogs, greets people with grace, and waits.

She’s been through two adoptions that did not hold because the families were not ready for her and did not understand her needs. German Shepherds at this age are intelligence wrapped in energy. They need boundaries, purpose, engagement and leadership. She is waiting for someone worthy of her. Someone who knows that 11 months old means she is still a teenager who is brilliant, emotional, and in need of guidance.

She is vaccinated and dewormed.

Ivy requires a home that:

• is experienced with working breeds, especially German Shepherds and who understand the German Shepherd temperament i.e. their intelligence, loyalty, and need for structured guidance
• will commit to training and can provide a structured lifestyle, with ample physical activity and mental stimulation to help her grow into a well-adjusted adult
• has access to good groomers, private veterinary care and trainers or behaviourists
• can provide a non-vegetarian diet
• will not leave her alone for long hours since she is still a puppy and can provide plenty of companionship and consistent socialization
• will spay her at the right age
