Meet Leo, a 2-year-old male Golden Retriever who was surrendered to a shelter for no fault of his own. He is now safe with us and waiting for a family that will give him the loving, committed home he deserves.

He is friendly with people and gets along with other dogs. He has an affectionate and social nature that Golden Retrievers are known for. He enjoys being around people. As a young Golden Retriever, Leo is playful, energetic, and enthusiastic about life. Leo can be excitable at times and may be a little too energetic to around very young children.

He thrives on companionship and interaction. He would do best with an active individual, couple, or family who can include him in their daily routine. A home with access to regular exercise, walks, or outdoor activities would be ideal. A garden would be a bonus, but most importantly, he needs a family willing to invest time in his physical and mental well-being. He is not suitable for a farm setting or a home where he will primarily be looked after by a caretaker. He is looking for a family that wants him to be a true member of the household.

Leo is vaccinated, dewormed. He is not neutered at the moment and a would be required to sterilised at the appropriate time and age.

Leo needs a home that:

• has experience with working breeds, especially Golden Retrievers and understands that he is a high-energy, intelligent dog who will thrive with structure, consistency, and proper guidance
• has access to good groomers, private veterinary care and trainers or behaviourists
• can provide a non-vegetarian diet
• leads an active lifestyle and have the patience and determination to provide him with adequate physical and mental stimulation
• can provide structure, routine, and clear boundaries and are committed to his training
• want a companion who will be involved in family life and activities
• are prepared to give him the attention, leadership, and consistency he needs to succeed in his life

Leo is a wonderful dog with a lot of heart. He simply needs a home that appreciates the needs of a high energy, active Golden Retriever and is committed to loving him and helping him thrive.
