Meet Raja, a 3–4-year-old champion-bred Labrador and Rani, a 2–3-year-old Indian Labrador. For several years, the two lived together in extremely poor conditions and were repeatedly used for breeding. Puppies were produced and sold, while Raja and Rani were left behind once they were no longer considered useful. Raja and Rani have left that world behind and are safe with us. They are now waiting for their forever home.

What makes their story special is the bond they share. They have spent years together, and their relationship has become a source of comfort and security for both. Rani does not eat when Raja is not around. Raja actively searches for Rani when she is out of sight. When they are together, they are settled and comfortable. For this reason, we are looking for a family willing to adopt them together.

They both have typical Labrador temperament. They are good with humans and other dogs. They are social, affectionate and easygoing. Raja loves his toys while Rani loves to cuddle and relax. They do not require an elaborate lifestyle. What they need is a safe, stable and loving home where they can finally experience the security that comes from belonging to a family.

Raja and Rani are both vaccinated, dewormed and sterilised.

Raja and Rani require a home that:

• • is experienced with working breeds, especially Labrador Retrievers and understands their needs
  • is prepared and capable of providing regular physical exercise and mental enrichment
  • will commit to training so that they can comfortably settle into life in a home
  • has access to good groomers, private veterinary care and trainers or behaviourists
  • can provide a non-vegetarian diet
  • can give them the patience, affection and reassurance they need to settle into their new life
  • will treat them as companion animals and valued members of the family
  • will give them the patience and consistency they need as they adjust to life outside a breeding environment and will never abandon or discard them again
