Meet Ronnie, a beautiful 1.5-year-old, male, black Labrador Retriever who has a gentle nature, a loving heart and a smile that tells the story of just how far he has come.

When Ronnie came to us, he was a lost, deeply depressed and broken dog. His condition reflected a life that had taken much from him, and for a while, it seemed as though he had little left to give. But he kept going.

And, slowly, he began to heal. With care, patience and time, the change in Ronnie was remarkable. The sadness in his eyes began to fade. His strength returned. He became healthier, more confident and, most importantly, he found his happiness again.

Ronnie is a typical Labrador. He loves people and gets along well with other dogs. He is energetic and playful and would require at least 1 to 2 hours of daily exercise.

He is vaccinated and dewormed.

Ronnie requires a home that:

• • is experienced with working breeds, especially Labrador Retrievers and understands the needs of a young male Labrador Retriever
  • is prepared and capable of providing regular physical exercise and mental enrichment
  • will commit to training so that he can grow up to be a well-adjusted adult
  • has access to good groomers, private veterinary care and trainers or behaviourists
  • can provide a non-vegetarian diet
  • can give him the patience, affection and reassurance he needs to settle into his new life
  • will continue to nurture the happy, healthy dog he has worked so hard to become
